Cygnet (Reception and Year 1)

Cygnet Class

Welcome to our very own class page.

Parent Resources

On our class page you will find mathematical prompt sheets for both the Reception and Year 1 children.

These cover the whole of the curriculum areas in maths that we will be covering this year.

We will be alternating homework between English and maths for year 1 children. These prompt sheets will be available for maths homework should you wish to use them.

Cygnet class searched the different micro habitats for creatures that live there. They explored the field and the Reception garden. After completing their hunt and recording what they found they then wrote about what they had discovered.

Mud Kitchen Mixing. The children wanted to know what would happen when they added different ingredients to the mud. They experimented with paint and glitter. They varied the consistency of their mixtures with the addition of more water or soil!

Friday Afternoons Big Sing

On Friday 18th November year 1 and 2 will be going to Snape Maltings to take part in the Friday Afternoons Big Sing project. This is a nationwide initiative that aims to get as many children as possible singing together at the same time. The songs that the children will be singing have all been written especially for the event. As the children have found some of the songs are quite challenging. However all these can be accessed on the Friday Afternoons website (http://www.fridayafternoonsmusic.co.uk/). It is really easy to set yourself up an account and this will mean that the children can practise outside of school. We are singing all the 2016 songs, 10 in total. It would be great if as many children as possible were practising outside of school so that they are note perfect on the day.

Thanks,

Miss Hawkins
