Edith May (Year 3)

Welcome to Edith May Class!

Edith May class page

The children have had a productive start to the new academic year. We have discussed what our class rules need to be to enable us to support each other in our learning and create an environment where we are confident to offer answers to questions and share our opinions.

We hope that you will enjoy viewing our learning journey.

Young Voices Biggest Sing 2021

This afternoon we were proud to join the 370,000 strong Young Voices choir to sing and sign Bill Withers' 'Lovely Day'.  The children enjoyed a physical warm-up with Andy Instone - Young Voices Street Dance Guru.  Followed by a vocal warm-up with David Lawrence, Principal Conductor for the Young Voices choir.   The children sang their hearts out and thoroughly enjoyed taking part in this awesome event.

The children used a paint programme on the school laptop to draw Pudsey. The children then drew Pudsey using colouring pencils and compared the two.  They discussed the advantages and disadvantages of using digital and non-digital methods to create art.

Wednesday 11th November 2020

We carefully followed instructions on the class interactive board to construct a simple lever mechanism that would wave a hand!

You can see every ones finished work on the slide show above.

This half term we are investigating forces and magnets.  This afternoon we went on a forces hunt in our classroom to find how many items are operated by a push or a pull.  We found a wide range of items.  We then discussed items outside of school and which action was required to operate them.

Making music with natural materials

Thursday 5th November 2020

Today was Outdoor Learning Day and we marked this with a music lesson outside.  We had 5 minutes to hunt for any natural materials that we could make a sound with.

We then practised what sound we could make before performing to the rest of the class.

We thought about the best way to make a sound; scrapping, hitting or rubbing the natural materials together and made links to the music lessons we have in class.
