Online Safety
The Internet provides fantastic opportunities for children to discover more about the world and learn new skills; children need to be taught to use this learning tool safely.
We have put together a set of links and guidance to help you to be more vigilant and able to protect your child while they are using the internet. This is backed up by the school through regular whole-school and class teaching about online safety for children.
At school, we have subscribed to E-safety support. This package includes a range of training resources for staff. At the beginning of each new school year, staff update their knowledge and skills by completing online safety training. Similar training courses are available for parents. Links to this training are sent via email from the Online Safety Lead on a biannual basis. Any parents that are interested in more frequent or varied parent training courses should approach the school for further information.
Parents are given a set of our school Online Safety Rules so that they can be reinforced at home. A copy of our school Online Safety Rules (SMART) is on display in every classroom and children are reminded of these at the beginning of each year and at regular intervals as required. Children are also advised of actions to take if they are concerned about something they see or experience online or if they have any other online issues. A team of Year 6 Online Safety Champions also offer information, support and advice through whole-school assemblies and workshops. A notice board in the school also provides online safety information for pupils.
