Pupil Leadership

School Council

Lead staff members: Mrs Grist and Miss Mills

The School Council is a formal group of pupils within school who are elected by their peers to represent them and their views.  Termly meetings enable pupils to voice their views and opinions on a range of agreed discussions areas.  School Council representatives help to lead initiatives throughout the school year and share key information with their peers in whole-school assemblies and back in class. 

 

House Captains

Lead staff members: Mrs Etchingham 

Our House Captains are Year 6 pupils who have been elected by the other members of their house.  They make a formal presentation to their house group at the beginning of the year as part of this process.  Their role is to represent and support the other children in their house and to take the lead in inter-house competitions, such as Sports Day. 

 

Eco Monitors

Lead staff members: Mrs Palmer-Long

The Eco Monitors are a group of Year 6 pupils with a particular interest in the outdoors and eco matters.  The group are responsible for tasks such as planting bulbs in the winter, weeding and watering the planters and the raised beds throughout the year and raising awareness about eco matters such as recycling within our school 

 

Junior Road Safety Officers

Lead staff members: Mrs Palmer-Long

Our Junior Road Safety Officers spread road safety messages to the school community by leading assemblies, running competitions and leading road safety workshops at key points in the year. The children are from Year 6 and put themselves forward for the role as they enter their final year at our school. 

 

Online Safety Champions

Lead staff members: Mr McGinn

Our Online Safety Champions, supported by our team of technicians, take the lead on enabling their peers to safely use the technology in our school.  They lead assemblies to spread online safety messages, and run workshops to raise awareness on Safer Internet Day.  

 

Book Nook Monitors

Lead staff members: Mrs Palmer-Long

Our team of Book Nook Monitors are responsible for hosting book nook sessions at lunchtime.  During these sessions, visitors to the 'book nook' can read their own books, have stories read to them or engage in reading-based activities.  The Book Nook Monitors are also responsible for keeping our collection of reading books neat and well-organised.
