Pupil Premium Children at Chelmondiston C of E Primary School
At Chelmondiston C of E Primary we draw children from a wide range of different social and economic groupings. Some of these pupils are entitled to Pupil Premium. We use the money allocated to these children to ensure that they are not disadvantaged. In some cases this may mean that the money is spent directly on supporting the child in the classroom through additional support with an LSA. More often than not this will be accessed through a group so that particular children do not feel singled out. At other times the needs of a child may call for individual one to one support and again funds are used in this way.
Other Pupil Premium children may not have specific educational needs, as such we allocate to them an amount of money to support them with attendance at clubs or our Early Bird before school provision. We have children who have participated in sports clubs such as Archery and Dance.
As part of the Olympic legacy, all school's are being given funding to enhance the PE provision offered to the children. In 2016 - 2017 the money allocated £14,276 was spent on the provision of a new trim trail for the children.
The children decided what they would like the money to be spent on and there was vote which decided which equipment was to be provided.
The Trim Trail - now known as the Hilary has been greatly enjoyed by the children who have a timetable which allows each class access for at least two sessions a week.
Margot in Year Four said: "I think it is really good fun and it helps me to keep fit."
Toby in Year Five said: "It's fun and it gets children active. My favourite part is the monkey bars."
Charlie, a pupil in Year Four said: "It is fun because there is lots of things to do. You can jump off and on at different places and you can play games like jungle on it, pretending that the ropes are tree vines."
Sport's Premium Money 2017 - 2018
In the present academic year the Government have announced that over the course of the year schools will receive double their normal Sport's Premium allowance. This is being paid to the school in two blocks. We are going to use part of the money (£3,000) to support the cost of swimming. The remainder of the money will be used to update resources and equipment. We also plan to have enrichment days when sports providers will be invited in to encourage the children to take up particular sports.
A full listing of the budget will be provided in the near future.
