Mental Health and Well-Being

At Chelmondiston C of E Primary School we recognise that children’s mental health is a crucial factor in their overall well-being and can affect their learning and achievement.  Through our THRIVE approach we provide a nurturing and supportive environment in which children learn resourcefulness and build the resilience needed to cope effectively with the inevitable challenges and setbacks of life.  This in turn builds confidence and self-esteem.  Our PSHE curriculum helps children to understand and manage their thoughts, feelings and behaviour, and with this self-awareness they can make and maintain healthy, reciprocal relationships.  They learn how to communicate well, how to support each other and where to seek support should they need it.

Most children grow up mentally healthy.  Nevertheless, research shows that the number of children experiencing mental health difficulties is on the increase.  There are a number of avenues of support available should your child or family need expert help or advice.
