Arthur Ransome inspired activity day at Pin Mill Sailing Club

Our Y4, 5 and 6s were extremely fortunate to have been invited to spend a special activity day at Pin Mill Sailing club run by the Nancy Blackett Trust.

Author of 'Swallows and Amazons', Arthur Ransome, based his next two novels at Pin Mill, with the same 4 characters continuing their adventures on board a small yacht on the River Orwell.

Our pupils enjoyed an action-packed day, devised by Sue from the Trust and all based on the novel, "We Didn't Mean to Go to Sea."

The day included, map reading, learning about navigation, knot tying, going on board the Nancy Blackett (owned by A. Ransome) making our own little boats, singing sea shanties and a most enjoyable walk along the river.

On top of all of this, we were delighted to be presented with the Bursary Award and our very own burgee by Pin Mill Sailing Club's commodore, Sara Hopkinson.
